Pop up form – integrating WordPress.com with Mailchimp free site

  Hello

  I’m trying to set up a WordPress.com (free site) mailing list using Mailchimp and a pop up form. Have created the pop up form which works when the person opens goes onto my WordPress.com site. But when the subscriber puts in their email address they don’t get a verification email back. Any idea why?

  Because it’s WordPress.com I’ve been told by the help guidelines that I can’t use Mailchimp integration and paste in code. I’ve also checked that the Mailchimp merge tags option on the Mailchimp site are set as non-required. I really don’t know where to go next – any help would be much appreciated.
