Popular page abuse
-
I have a reader who is trying to make a post on my blog the most popular one. I can tell that he is clicking on it repeatedly. How best to deal with him? The best would be to exclude his visits from the stats, but I don’t know if that’s possible. Any other clever ideas. Bear in mind, my coding abilities are fairly minimal. Thanks for any ideas.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We need the URL beginning with http of the blog in question and the Stats package if any that you are using before anyone can begin to give you accurate help

Is this the blog in question? http://cijblog.wordpress.com/ I don’t believe there is a way to prevent the gits from this single user from appearing in your stats. My recommendation is to contact Staff http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

Well, through a stat checking system, I can see exactly the ISP who’s doing it, and it’s even signed by the company in question. Every 3-5 seconds, clicking on the post they want to go up. It’s very obvious.

If he’s just trying to jam one post up into your Top Posts widget, my recommendation is to take OUT the Top Posts widget, put in a text widget called Top Posts, and put whatever posts you like in it. That’ll prevent him from having the result he wants, and sooner or later he’ll decide you must have WAY more regular hits than he thinks, and will stop.
