Populate backlog of posts from RSS feed.

    Hello!

I run a podcast, and even though I started a wordpress site for it a long time ago, I never used it. I’m wanting to move on from just using my podbean landing page as my main site, and allow the other people who are part of my podcast to have the ability to write posts for it. However, since I haven’t been using the wordpress, I haven’t been posting the episodes over here. Is there a way for me to autopopulate all of my episodes as their own posts on wordpress, or is that something I will have to do manually?

    Thank you for your time!

    Hi eryliapod,

Is there a way for me to autopopulate all of my episodes as their own posts on wordpress, or is that something I will have to do manually?

If Podbean can supply an .xml file of content, you may be able to import it into WordPress.com. However if they can’t, you will need to import the content manually.

Uploading audio files is only supported on paid plans — Personal, Premium and Business. So you would need to upgrade from the free plan if you wanted to upload these files directly to your site.

We have a support guide which explains the process of creating a podcast in more detail:

    Create a Podcast

If you only need to embed audio, that can be done using SoundCloud Audio Player on the Free plan:

    SoundCloud Audio Player

I hope this helps but let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for the response Gem. I have the xml file for my rss feed, so I will see about importing that way. I was already planning to upgrade to premium after getting the site updated. I’d love to upgrade to business for plug-ins but that just isn’t feasible for a project that earns me no income, especially without a monthly billing option.

Is there a reason the SoundCloud embedded player works but the podbean one doesn’t? I attempted using the podbean embed code originally while updating the first post, and it wouldn’t work, so I just opted for posting the file URL and relying on the html player that it gave from that.

Thank you for your help so far.

    Hi EryliaPod,

Is there a reason the SoundCloud embedded player works but the podbean one doesn’t?

SoundCloud supports oEmbed, which is an open standard that allows one web service to embed another. We don’t currently support Podbean but I’ll make a feature suggestion for our developers to consider :)

I was already planning to upgrade to premium after getting the site updated.

The Premium plan includes email and Live Chat support, so you’re welcome to reach out to us using either of those options once you’ve upgraded. In the meantime, you can post here if you need any further help.
