Portfolio as landing page

  Hello there,

  I have some troubles with the portfolio system on wordpress. I’m using Orvis theme right now, which has a portfolio feature and it works for me – but when I try some other portfolio themes it doesn’t. I’m trying to figure out why, before a possible switch. The (premium) theme I’m looking for right now is Veni.

  This is what I’ve done for Orvis:
  -> WPadmin -> Portfolio -> created some portfolio projects.
  -> Pages -> created a Page called “works” -> added portfolio template.
  -> set landing page to works

  Now when I’m loading the Veni theme for testing and put static home page to “works” I only see the text I’ve written for the “works” page but the portfolio projects aren’t displayed.
  I created a menu point called “Home” where I linked the custom link “mypage.wordpress.com/portfolio” and when I click that “Home” button the portfolio layout works. But I want the portfolio page as my landing page and not having people to click on the home button first.

  Any help and ideas what I need to change?
