I would like to display a Photo title, description, and exif data along with the photo in a portfolio slider.

That site is not on our WordPress.COM servers. You are posting to the wrong support forum and or relying on the wrong support documentation.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.
