Portfolio Featured Image – Not Featuring!?

    First time using wordpress.com and everything seems straight forward enough, except that I have created a portfolio and the featured image is displaying okay on the portfolio page using Orvis theme. But when you click on the image to go to that page and read up more about it, the image is not there. There does not seem to be any other way of adding more images to the project, so presumably it will just show the featured image. Yet it does not. No matter how big or small the image is?

    Hello @eidronis,

    Featured Images are not displayed on the portfolio pages in Orvis theme, so you may want to add it from the page editor of the portfolio page, just like you’d do for an image on a regular blog post or page.

    You’ll find the image you’ve used as a featured image in the Media Library, so it’ll be easy for you to add it on the body of the portfolio page.

    Portfolio pages layout with Orvis

    The above link shows how the layout should look. This is using the same featured image in both portfolio and page.

    If I do not add any extra images in the page. The text area looks the same, but with no image on the page. If I add an image to the page it moves the text above the image!

    Surely either the featured image should be used as standard, or there should be an option to change the image or images for the page?

    Hi @eidronis!

    I can see that the image displayed on the Orvis sample page is not aligned, but it might sit that way due to its size – in fact, as soon as I reduce the width of my browser window, the text moves above the image.

    You can choose to align the image to keep it firmly on a side (left, right etc) and see if the result pleases you.

    The image on the body of the portfolio page can be changed – it’s not mandatory to add the featured image, you can pick another one or use the featured image at your best convenience.
    The portfolio page works exactly like a ‘regular’ page or post for what concerns the images added on the body copy, so you can either select an existing image of your Media Library or add a new one.
