Portfolio in Harmonic Theme

Hello: Thanks for the helpful link to creating portfolios. My question is this: in Harmonic Theme, it offers the option of creating portfolios by clicking on ‘Portfolios’ in the left sidebar of the dashboard. But there appears to be a second way: in the ‘new page’ editor, there is also an option under ‘Page Attributes’ that also has Portfolio, as well as Default Page, Front Page, Full Width. How is this Page-created portfolio different than creating a portfolio from the left side bar option?

Thanks for any help. This question relates to Harmonic Theme.

  • I understand these two types of portfolios are slightly confusing :-)

However we have a nice support documents explaining this:

‘Portfolios’ in the left sidebar of the dashboard is the Portfolio Content Type. It has unique advantages like following as can be learned from Portfolios on WordPress.com post:

you’ll be able to manage all your portfolio projects in one place, separate from your posts and pages. You can categorize and tag your projects in a way that doesn’t overlap with your blog posts. Better yet, you won’t lose your projects and won’t need to reorganize your content everytime you switch themes.

The other Portfolio is a Page Template for the front page layout and is only available on certain themes.

Please feel free to ask if something is still unclear :-)
