Portfolio not showing

Hello,
I have chosen the Illustratr by Automatic theme. This theme says it was designed specifically with the Portfolio content type in mind. I have set up 2 portfolio projects, which should be displayed on the homepage like in the theme demo.
I have followed the steps in “Portfolios support”
I have activated the Portfolio – turning on the “Portfolio Projects” option.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The first thing you’ll need to do is create two new pages: One called Home (or Portfolio) and one called Blog.
Then, look in the Page Attributes section of your Home/Portfolio page and select the Portfolio Page template.
Now you can open the Customizer and go into the Homepage Settings panel.
Select “A static page” for your homepage, and choose “Home (Portfolio)” for the static homepage, and “Blog” for your blog page.
At this point you should see your portfolio projects on your homepage.
The next step will be to go into your Customizer’s Menus section and add your new Blog page to your menu, so people will be able to find it, since it’s no longer on the front page.

One last thing – is there any way I can have control over the order the portfolio items appear?
I would like to have my better ones show first.

Portfolio projects are ordered by the date they’re created, with the most recent project displayed first.
