Portfolio on my homepage
-
I am very confused, there are many different themes such as Orvis which will allow me to make my homepage display all my portfolio projects from my Portfolio page. However, there are some that are still under the portfolio theme such as Sketch that just shows a blank page.
I have enabled the Settings>General>writing>Portfolio Projects
I have enabled Customising>Homepage settings> Static page> Homepage>PortfolioI have left the appearance on the Sketch theme so you can see that there is nothing displayed unlike when Orvis is applied it automatically shows my portfolio.
Please help, there are many different themes i would like to use that dont do this and im consider using another website that has a similar UI to achieve this as its becoming very stressful.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I found this on the Sketch Theme set up page.
Portfolio Page Template
Portfolio Page TemplateThis template will display your portfolio and allow you to set your portfolio as the site’s front page.
When you first activate Sketch, you’ll see your posts in a traditional blog format. If you’d like to use the portfolio page template as the front page of your site, as the demo site does, it’s simple to configure:
- Create or edit a page, and assign it to the Portfolio Page Template from the Page Attributes module.
- Head to Customize → Static Front page and set “Front page displays” to “A static page”.
- Select the page you just assigned the Portfolio Page Template to as “Front page” and set another page as the “Posts page” to display your blog posts.
By default, the page title and post content will appear. You can hide them if you prefer by going to Customize → Portfolio and check “Hide title and content on Portfolio Page Template” option.
I wonder if Step 3 would be helpful for you. Otherwise it worths to make sure everything was according to these steps.
Let me know if this was not helpful and need further assistance.

Sorry, I did the numbering wrong. Step 3:
Select the page you just assigned the Portfolio Page Template to as “Front page” and set another page as the “Posts page” to display your blog posts.

Thank you so much for your help, this has worked with some of the themes such as Sketch, with Monet it is displayed as “Projects” instead of Portfolio which was a little confusing but still has the same affect.
However it doesn’t work with all such as Mayland where the “Page template” isn’t even an option whether i edit an existing page or create a new one the option isn’t there at all even though Mayland comes under the Portfolio category.I really appreciate your help and i have found a few ways to get similar to what i am looking for, just a shame its not the most user friendly UI.

Hi there,
Not all themes have a portfolio page template, that lets the page automatically display your projects. This includes themes in the Portfolio category – that category indicates the theme has special styling for projects to make them look their best, but it doesn’t necessarily mean the theme supports the page template.
If you’re using a theme without the page template, and you want to display your projects on a regular page you can set as the front page, you need to use the portfolio shortcode to add your projects to the page:
https://wordpress.com/support/portfolios/portfolio-shortcode/
You’ll add this in the Shortcode Block in the editor.

Thank you so much for clearing that up, little confusing to be in the portfolio category but not have the portfolio template automatically installed. I will use the shortcode for the other styles.
Thank you for your help.
