Portfolio Pages vs. Blog Posts
-
Ok, I’m building a wedding photography site for my first wordpress. I’m hoping to achieve long-tail organic SEO rankings (for wedding venues). I’m trying to compare the ‘Portfolio’ section of my site with the standard ‘Blog’ section. Please note I just started building this site, so the blog is incomplete.
PORTFOLIO: http://bartlettpairphotography.com/weddings/
I really like how the weddings are displayed in a 2-column gallery-type format, which shows: title, main picture, and ‘read more.’ This easily displays 10-weddings per page, and readers can click on each one to read about the wedding and see more pictures. Here’s an example of clicking ‘Read More,’ which really looks like a blog post: http://bartlettpairphotography.com/portfolio/joseph-ambler-inn-wedding-2/BLOG: http://bartlettpairphotography.com/blog/
The blog also shows weddings, but not as neatly as the Portflio page. However, the blog has things like categories/recentposts/archives/commenting, which all are SEO friendly. Here’s an example of a blog post, which looks similar to the portfolio post:
http://bartlettpairphotography.com/philadelphia-wedding-photography-2/joseph-ambler-inn-wedding-photography-north-wales-pa/So it seems each has its pro’s/con’s. I guess my question is, can I get the best of both worlds without duplicating efforts? Or, do I have to first make the blog post, and then make the portfolio post? I’m worried about duplicate content from an SEO perspective.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!
