Portfolio Project Article Book

    Hey all

    I want to create an article preferably portfolio style.

    Top level PF
    – SUB PF
    – SUB PF
    – page
    – Blog

    I want it all organiser as a report or book.

    I dont have any succes’s with portfolio so far. I read tutorial, I watch video but my PF do not appear.

    I have activated PF in the writing section and i have created Project pages and blogs.

    I need basic step by step help for the top level PF page.

    Theme is Gazette and I wonder if this the obstruction?

    Note, I have a free plan for now so I can not add plugins! I upgrade later for WooCom etc.

    I am new to WP but have experience with other CMS

    The proposed structure of the article,

    Top level PF

    if I understand correctly, isn’t possible because it seems to presume that a static page or a “Blog” (if by “Blog” you mean post) can be a constituent of a portfolio. A portfolio consists entirely of a collection of portfolio projects. A WordPress.com project is a unique content type, unrelated to static pages and posts. See the Portfolios support page.

    There is only one portfolio allowed per WordPress.com site. It consists of all portfolio projects on the site. However, by assigning various portfolio project types and/or tags to individual projects, and displaying type or tag archives pages, the portfolio can be split into multiple parts. See the following relevant sections of the Portfolios support page:

    An easily achieved hierarchy of the site’s portfolio and some of its constituent parts might be something like the following example:

    • Portfolio
      • Portfolio project type 1 archive
        • Projects
      • Portfolio project type 2 archive
        • Projects
      • Portfolio project type 3 archive
        • Portfolio project tag 1 archive
          • projects
        • Portfolio project tag 2 archive
          • projects

    I forgot to provide a link also to the Portfolio Shortcode support page above. Portfolio shortcode is very useful in displaying either the whole portfolio or portions of it in any content type: post, page, project, testimonial, text widget, etc.

    I want it all organiser as a report or book.

    The Write a Book support page might be helpful.

    The theme is not really a factor in how a portfolio and it’s constituents may be managed or organized. However some themes are designated at “Portfolio Themes.” The Portfolio Themes section of the Portfolios support page says:

    Although all WordPress.com themes will display your projects after they’ve been created, a few themes have been designed specifically with the Portfolio content type in mind. These themes will have specific styles for the project archives and portfolio shortcode, and may provide specially designed page templates to display your portfolio in other ways.

    followed by a list of Portfolio Themes.

    If you want it display elsewhere, as mentioned above you may insert portfolio shortcode in a page, post, etc. You may add a link to the portfolio to a custom menu, as described in the “Add menu items” section of the Custom Menus support page.
