Portfolio Project Page
-
I’m using the Illustratr theme (but I don’t think that matters). My question is specifically about the inner workings of the portfolio function.
Right now, I have my front page set to my portfolio, which is showing my 10 most recent works. If you hover over portfolio in my menu I have set a drop down list which shows all my projects by category (I’m making use of the project type tag to do this).
I want to know if I can alter my front portfolio page to display specific projects instead of the most recent chronologically. For example… maybe I’d like to showcase my 10 BEST projects, instead of my 10 most recent.
I understand that I can make a project type for “bestprojects” and display them at http://pennedbyjenn.com/project-type/bestprojects/ – but that’s not what I want. I want that project type to show up when someone types in http://www.pennedbyjenn.com
Is that possible?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. If you’re using the portfolio page template, then no. It only shows projects in reverse-chronological order up to the maximum number of projects you specified in your settings.
To have more control over this you’ll need to create a regular page and use the Portfolio Shortcode to display your projects on that page. However, it seems like the shortcode also won’t allow you to display specific projects, only specific project types and tags. Full instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/portfolios/portfolio-shortcode/
The only way I can think of to completely control which projects appear is then to edit the publication dates so the ones you want to appear are dated the most recently.
