Portfolio / Project posting

  I recently posted a portfolio post ( to promote a few projects ) I did follow the directions from here, (been a while since I’ve used it..) but the ‘coding’ is showing in the WordPress Reader? Is this normal or is there a work around?

  Hi @afreestyler, I don’t believe the portfolio shortcode is meant to work in posts in the reader. Typically folks use it on pages.

  Can you send a link to the post? I’ll share it with our reader team to see what they’d suggest.

  Hi, have also sent an email, as was concerned, I also inserted a ‘read more’ which didn’t function? I’m just wondering about the (not so) ‘new’ reader and it’s functionality as it seems to show the ‘whole post’ of any posts, even though I have marked summary only. Wondering if this is also causing the problem.

  Here is a picture of what is shown in the reader, I have inserted a ‘read more’, also an excerpt all of which is also ignored. As it is, I’ve had to put more text in I moved it to under a picture you’ll see there too so at least it won’t be after 2 lines of text.

  Also, reiterating that I am aware that the portfolio preview doesn’t ‘work’ in the reader my problem is that Nothing should be seen after the first paragraph at any rate, ie: Summary Only – or is that setting now a waste of time, apologies, just having a bad day and all the ‘new’ things (also like the editor, which I don’t use) I’m not a fan of. :/

  Also wish you could ‘edit’ posts here.. anyway, to be more on point; the shortcode surely should not be displayed in the reader, as it looks highly unprofessional.

  Yes & thanks Supernovia, I’ve also been discussing it with Staff via email and it’s definitely on WordPress’ end. I look forward to the issue being fixed, I’m sure I noticed it ages ago as well, pity I didn’t forward on the problem back then I guess.

  Also hoping the ‘whole article’ will stop being viewable in the reader – as mentioned, as when you see one of my articles, it’ll often show another similar post of mine in the reader.. well, by clicking that a Carl Sagan one for example, and it’s a very long article – totally readable via the reader. With ‘Summary Only’ – that shouldn’t happen…(?) Not sure if they’re also looking into that, but didn’t want to send another email just yet..

  It’s actually much easier to track an issue if you aren’t posting it in two places, so let’s close this thread and allow you to continue via email if that’s alright.
