Portfolio Projects not appearing in Designer Theme

  I purchased the Designer theme, and have set up some test Portfolio Projects with Gallery Images inside.

  I have made sure that through the Dashboard, that Settings>Writing>Your Custom Content Types that “Porfolio Projects” options IS checked.

  However, “Portfolio” is not appearing in the sidebar of the site. I can access them if I type into by browser address bar manually, “http//:mygroovysite.wordpress.com/portfolio/

  How do I get this work properly? It’s not working like the sample Preview version of the Designer theme. Help!

  Is there something wrong in the source code of this theme I purchased?

  Hi,

  Are you referring to the site https://cohesivevision.wordpress.com/, which has its visibility set on private?

  However, “Portfolio” is not appearing in the sidebar of the site.

  You can create and activate a custom menu, including within it a link to the portfolio.

  How do I get this work properly? It’s not working like the sample Preview version of the Designer theme.

  The “Portfolio” link in the slideout sidebar of the Designer demo is evidently a custom menu link.

  What you suggested about creating a Custom Menu is what I ended up trying, which worked. I spend many hours trying to figure out why the Portfolio Project were not appearing, which was proving fruitless, and a huge consumption of time.

  I thought when I purchased this theme that things would work just as the demo without needing additional steps, but evidently not. I wish whoever created this theme had explained this clearly, but they did not. :-(

  It’s understandable that you might think that a demo would accurately represent what you would expect to find by default when using the theme, but this often not the case. WordPress.com theme demos are examples, and frequently include optional sidebars, widgets, custom menus, and uncommon theme features such as post sliders and special page templates (eg. front page, portfolio page, showcase) if they are available.
