Portfolio Shortcodes
-
Hi there,
I am extremely confused with the whole ‘Portfolio’ concept.
I have never used the portfolio customisation tool before and need assistance.
I have been reading/researching yet confused about the portfolio shortcodes.
Could someone please explain how I ensure my site looks like the Sketch demo page. For my Home Page, I want clickable options (so like a rotating picture box) for each of my categories.
I hope this makes sense.
Please help.

Hi Eleanor, if you haven’t yet looked at the setup instructions on the Sketch Theme Showcase page, I would suggest reading through that.
Since Sketch fully supports the Portfolio feature, you do not really have to use the shortcode. At Customize > Featured Content, you set a special tag for your featured posts/pages/portfolio items, and then all you have to do to have those appear in the main page slider is to assign that tag to them in the post/page/portfolio project editors. Those items (up to 10) will then show up in the featured content slider on the main page.
By default, when you have the Portfolio Page Template assigned to the front page, all portfolio projects will show up below the featured slider in a grid pattern.
You can also add content to the front page in the page editor, just like you would with a normal page, and it will show up below the slider and above the portfolio project grid.
There isn’t a way to add display categories in the slider or portfolio grid. You could add images to the content area of the front page and link those to your category pages.
