Portfolio Theme – Landing Page
-
Dear Forum,
Hello, I am looking to create a landing page for my website which will entail a single page that will fill the page and a single button that says “Enter Website” in the low centre of the page.
I would like to keep the portfolio aspect of the website the same, but just land on a nice photo before going to the blog.
Is this possible?
Many thanks in advance
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can insert a large image in a page in any theme, and then set that page to be the static homepage. Then link to your portfolio archive, which is generated automatically at YOUR-URL/portfolio

Thank you Kathryn, I have it set like this with the schedule page on the site.
I wonder however if the portfolio page would still have the featured slider? There is also the issue of how to navigate away from the image, though I guess this could be with the menu bar, it may not be so elegant.
Thank you for your time.

The featured slider is only available when you apply the special “Homepage” template a page. You could always try applying that template to a different page (other than the homepage) and then linking from your homepage to that separate page. You might want to try this first on a private test site before changing up your live site, to make sure everything works how you want it.

Dear Kathryn,
I tried your suggestion, by simply choosing ‘static page’ settings on the settings page, and set the ‘schedule’ page as a static front page.
An important point is that although I see a preview of what it would look like, I must make the change ‘live’. Your solution works as you described, and leaving the home page as is, it still has the featured slider.. So thank you very much.
However, the heading Logo and menus still remain, I was after maybe a full page solution with a button as it would seem to be a much more elegant solution as an entry page, but again, thank you for your input.

As an example of what I meant, it would be something like this:

Hi there, you’d need to use custom CSS to hide any elements from the homepage that you didn’t want.
For example, this custom CSS would hide the logo and menu on the homepage only:
.home .branding, .home .menu { display: none; }
