Portfolio Thumbnails Occasionaly Not Loading Properly

  • Unknown's avatar

I am currently using the Orvis theme to display a Portfolio page with thumbnails for each of my projects. The thumbnails should be lined up like a grid, and they usually do display like this, but occasionally they will load in jumbled together instead. A simple refresh typically fixes the issue, but I of course would prefer to not have the issue in the first place. Any suggestions as to how to fix this?

  • Good morning –

I see what you mean at https://alexgarbus.com/portfolio/ when in Chrome.

Could you tell me which browser you’re seeing the issue with?

It’d be great if you can grab a screen shot of the initial load, and then again after the page is refreshed.

Screen shots can be linked here with a third party like droplr or snag.gy.

    Hi!

I’ve uploaded screenshots of the broken page and the working page here: https://imgur.com/a/TfDnV8j

I actually got in contact with WordPress support after posting this thread, and according to them, the issue may be caused by the size of the image files. I’m going to attempt to shrink them and see what happens then.

  • @alexgarbus just noting I can see your portfolio fine now! The screenshots I’m seeing really do look like things would if the images were large and taking a while to load.

Typically, though, our system would resize them automatically for you. So if you’re seeing these issues as you add more images, please let us know.
