Portfolio URLs keep breaking!

  • Unknown's avatar

For the second time in a week, all of my portfolio items somehow hose themselves, and links to the pages throw a 404 error. To fix, I need to go into each item and resave.

    Help! Please investigate!

Here’s a good way to see them all ….

The portfolio items on the page you mention appear to be working. Could you let me know the title of one that isn’t working correctly?

These broke yesterday again, and I resaved all of them to make them work again. My film festival is next week, so I have to have them working and cannot leave the site down.

Understood! I want to help keep you up and running. Can you provide some additional details?

    1. Are you tweaking the URLs at all before the portfolio items break?
    2. Is it only the portfolio items that break or all links on your site (to all pages)?
    3. Could you elaborate on what you mean by “break”? Are you receiving an error message of some sort?

I’m not touching the URLs at all.

It is only portfolio items that have this problem. Problem occurs randomly without me touching any portfolio items at all.

By “break”, I mean that my entire portfolio throws “404: Page Not Found” errors. I have pages and posts with the portfolio shortcode to display these, and when they “break”, every single portfolio item throws the 404 error. Also, if I just plug the URL for a given page into the browser, that throws the 404 error too.

To fix, I go and resave all 76 or so items, and they work fine.

Thanks for the clarification! That’s no good at all. The next time this happens, could you reply back here? I’ll investigate as quickly as I can. Unfortunately, this is difficult to troubleshoot without seeing it in action.
