I need help configuring the portfolio page template on the page template, because it doesn’t show on the page template roll down. Can someone please let me know how to activate it?
Thanks

Hi @mrojasferri,
Just try to turn it on by going to My Sites → Settings → Writing → Content Types and turning on the “Portfolio Projects” option. You can learn more about here:
You can then just follow the instructions for setting up the Portfolio Page template from your theme guide:
https://wordpress.com/theme/orvis
Let me know how you get on, would be happy to assist you further.
Thanks! -
Hi @pavanraheja
Thank you very much for your reply.
I already followed those instructions but it still doesn’t work… The portfolio projects is already on, but in the second step at the Page Template, there isn’t the option Portfolio page template… I’ll send you a print screen (I have it in Spanish). So, I don’t know what should I do from now… Why could this happen? Maybe I’m doing something wrong.

Hi @kathrynwp!
Yes, I’m so confuse…
Because according to the instructions, at the page template -Default template- you should have the option to choose Portfolio page template, but I don’t have that option to choose… and I would like to have the portfolio template just as it is on the orvis theme. What I did different is that I added a new page and put it as a static front page.. maybe that’s not correct. What do you recommend me to do? Should I erase the page that I create?
Thank you for your fast reply… I’m new at this and there are so many steps. -
Ah, I see what you did – you added the portfolio shortcode to your current front page, which is why your projects are displaying there. :) You can either use the shortcode, or assign the portfolio template, but not both.
Here’s what you can do:
On your homepage, remove the shortcode:
[portfolio]In the Page Attributes box, choose “Portfolio Page Template.”
Let me know how it goes!

Hi @kathrynwp again,
I just did what you told me and removed the shortcut from the homepage, but it still doesn’t show me the portfolio page template…
haha, It makes me feel so stressful!!
-
Your page still has the Default template applied — you still need to do this step in the page editor:
In the Page Attributes box at the right, choose “Portfolio Page Template.”
Just let me know if you have any trouble finding this option.
Sorry to hear you’re stressed, you’re nearly there!
-
haha ok, that’s what I want to select but it only give me two options and none of them is the “Portfolio Page Template”.
What should I do? Is this usually normal? Or is this just happen to me?
-
Oh weird! Let me dig into this and see why that might be missing for you. I can see why this would be confusing!

Oh yay! My pleasure!
One thing you’ll want to be sure to do is add a featured image to each portfolio project. That’s the finishing touch to getting them displaying as expected.
