Portolio feature on Illustratr Theme

  I’m unable to get the portfolio feature to appear on the Illustratr Theme.

  It’s not an option in settings Settings → Writing (there’s no Your Custom Content Types) and doesn’t appear on any menu or side bar. This theme is supposed to activate/include the portfolio.

  My blog posts just appear in full one after the other. I want just one photo and title in tiled effect on my blog home page.

  Can anyone please help?

  Posts do not appear in the portfolio with the Illustratr theme, projects do. See the Portfolios support page. You’ll need to create some projects to be able to display a portfolio. If you want the portfolio on the front page, then you’ll just assign a page to the portfolio page template and make that your static front page.

  This theme is not designed to do that with posts. Themes with an optional grid-based front page in which the grid items link to posts include:

  • Fontfolio
  • Hatch
  • Mixfolio
  • Pictorico
  • Cubic
  • Autofocus
  • Imbalance 2
  • The Columnist

  I want just one photo and title in tiled effect on my blog home page.

  1. Activate the Portfolio Content Type.

  2. Add some portfolios projects. Make sure each portfolio has a featured image set.

  3. Create a new page.

  4. Set this new page’s page template to Portfolio Page Template. No need to have the content in this page. Just set the template to Portfolio Page Template.

  5. Make this page the static front page and choose another page for posts.

  That’s it.

  You got exactly what you asked for :-)

  Hi. Thanks for the more detailed instruction. However, Illustratr is one of the special portfolio themes. It displays projects on a Portfolio Page Template page even without enabling portfolio projects at Settings > Writing. Your step one may be necessary for project archives pages to work, I don’t know.

  Thanks! I changed templates and it works fine now.
