positioning of poll on page?
-
I decided to start experimenting with the polldaddy feature by creating a page just for them. I tried to center the one I’ve got so far, but it stubbornly remains on the left of the page even though the short code appears centered in the editor (I had to actually publish the page before I could actually see the poll!). What am I doing wrong?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

My very clever friend has just what you are looking for:
Changing the default positioning of shortcode objects (pt. 2)
-
Thanks 1tess and Panos. I’ve tried several of the techniques and, unfortunately, none of them are working. I’ve even tried clearing my cache! Haaaalllpp!
-
I can’t see what code you are using? You can show it between backticks the symbol lowercase of the tilde ~~~
-
Okay, I guess I need to learn how to do this anyway:
<table align="center"><tr><td> [polldaddy poll=1719402] </td></tr></table></p> -
-
1tess, it occurs to me that my having the page editor open while I was waiting for a response might, somehow, be preventing you from examining my page. I just re-saved and closed the editor. Just in case.
-
Try pasting this into the HTML editor:
<table border="0" align="center"> <tbody> <tr> <td>[polldaddy poll=1719402]</td> </tr> </tbody></table> -
Also note that only one poll will show up, so if you have multiple copies of the shortcode, get rid of them.
Oh, and you don’t need border = ” 0 ”

Well, I don’t understand.
I just copied the code I posted into my test blog and tried it in Safari. (Usually use Firefox) and it worked fine.Even your incomplete code works when I press “close tags” in the html editor:
That’s where the “0” came from in my code.<table align="center"><tr><td> [polldaddy poll=1719402] </td></tr></table></p>But I don’t see any evidence of your poll at all.

Just to make sure we are on the same page, this is the post we are talking about:
http://iwanticewater.wordpress.com/2009/06/19/supreme-leader/
and you have it published with your attempts to add your poll? -
My God I’m so sorry, but no. I’m talking about the poll on the http://iwanticewater.wordpress.com/polls-stuff/ page.
-
I’m wondering if it is theme related. I hadn’t switched themes to pressrow.
Works in: Ocean Mist Andreas09 Digg3 Garland Neo Sapian
Doesn’t work in ChaoticSoul Cutline Hemmingway RedoableLite
-
Try this:
<div align="center"> [polldaddy poll=1719402] </div>(YIKES!)
I did try it in Pressrow and it works! -
When I tried the above code, the darn editor converts it into
<div>[polldaddy poll=1719402]</div>when I switch to the visual view. Could the problem relate to the other stuff on the page? I think I saw a
<p>get stuck onto the end of the previous line just before it happens. -

Hey guys! Now the polls on http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/04/17/positioning-shortcode-objects-pt-2/ are showing as links! This problem seems to go beyond just my blog!
-
Well I at least solved the “showing only as a link” problem. I had only given temporary permission for Polldaddy to my NoScript Firefox add-on. That must have got rescinded when I did all that cache clearing and stuff. However, the poll still isn’t centered.
