positioning of poll on page?
-
No, it’s not only a link, the poll is there, but not centered. ( here is the link so I don’t have to keep scrolling back up to look at it: http://iwanticewater.wordpress.com/polls-stuff/ ) And the link to Panos’s shortcode post is not showing as links. Try clearing your cache, and cookies, log out, and restart your browser.
I would try taking the ticker factory thing out. Then put the poll code right there on top. See if that works, then add the ticker back.

I’ve stripped out everything and then first tried
‘<table border=”0″ align=”center”>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td>[polldaddy poll=1719402]</td>
</tr>
</tbody></table>`
but that didn’t work. I then tried only<table align="center"><tr><td> [polldaddy poll=1719402] </td></tr></table></p>' but that didn't work. Finally I tried<div align=”center”>
[polldaddy poll=1719402]
</div>`
and, just like it did before, the editor converts it to
<div>[polldaddy poll=1719402]</div>
once I publish the page. No centering on any one. -
Man! I really screwed that up. Hopefully you can see that I was just re-trying your previous suggestions.

Hey, I am over my head. It works for me, so there is something I am missing and we can both just hope someone will enlighten us. Sorry I couldn’t succeed in helping.
-
Well I’m truly grateful for the effort. I was just trying to learn how to work with polls anyway, so I’ll keep experimenting until I’m comfortable enough to start using them.
That is, if I can find a use that’s more important than my test case. :-)
-
I would have never imagined that such straightforward coding wouldn’t work in some themes. Note that it’s got nothing to do with the poll: if you try the table code with a plain word instead of the poll shortcode, again it won’t work; and it won’t work even if you specify a 100% width for the table. This is a joke – and I really hope it’s a temporary one.
Anyway, you can use this workaround to center your poll:
<div style="padding-left:110px;"> SHORTCODE_HERE </div> -
-
It worked! Thanks again for going through all the frustration. While I can’t pretend to know how stupid this really is, the work around is definitely a useful tidbit to add to my growing code snippets file.
Thanks again guys.

I told you he is good!
And I am sure you will specify which blog you are asking about when you ask a ????? in future. LOL!!!I often ask people at work to bring me a cup of ice water when they go for lunch at McD’s. That stuff could kill you!
Well, most likely the ice water.≥^,^≤

Well just because I want ice water, that doesn’t that I actually get any. ;-) And may I remind you that I named this topic “positioning of poll on page?” I only have the one blog on WP.
BTW: what does ≥^,^≤ mean? Something really cool I hope. :-)

hmmm. I get ice water, whether I deserve it or not…
OK. Right, “page.”
Give the link to the page, then. You know, the link to what you are asking about!!What do you mean, what does ≥^,^≤ mean?
cool, right!It’s a cat with whiskers, ears, a curled tongue:
a text-picture of a cat. -
Sorry! I just thought that the word would cause one to look for page navigation and…
Anyway, the cat is sooo cool! I’m still looking for the specials symbols on my keyboard! 8-|
-
I’m on a Mac, but probably you have an option key. Try pressing that with various keys. and option/shifts. all sorts of interesting symbols.
Also, check out Panos’s sidebar for html characters.

* bangs head on desk * I have tried everything mentioned here. i am using the chaoticsoul template …. and not under any circumstance can i center. Sure it works under different themes, but i do not wish to change themes. Alas.

@cr0wbarred: Apparently you didn’t try this (it does work):
<div style="padding-left:110px;"> SHORTCODE_HERE </div>Proper number depends on the poll style you will select.
And please paste the exact URL of your blog when asking questions here, or link your nickname to your blog (as explained in the Sticky 8 Things to Know Before Posting). Helps us help you.
