I can put various blog posts as a featured image/article on my site, but why not possible to do the same with pages?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No that is not possible.
Pages and Posts are not the same https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
Pages cannot become featured posts because they aren’t posts. Pages sit outside the structure of the blog and are meant only for content that rarely changes.
