Possible My Followers error

  Hello, I have a question regarding My Followers. When I am logged into my blog, it states that I have 36 followers. However, when viewing the home screen, it claims I have 55 followers. I had thought they might be email, however I do not see them listed when I log in. Is this a glitch or (more than likely) am I missing something? Any help and explanation would be much appreciated.
