I put in a page caled “About Me” I altered the slug to say about but when I save it then i saves as about-2 and I tried to locate a duplicate slug so I could correct it only to not find one and I would like to know why its doing that and I have even searched the help for answers on duplicate slugs.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

First off, check go to pages > all pages and click the “trash” icon and see if the original “about” page is in there. If it is, delete it or “untrash” it and edit that file for your about page.

If you emptied the trash with the “about” page in there, then it could be 24 hours before you will again be able to use the “about” slug. This is because wordpress stores everything in a database and databases will mark a file as not available when deleted, but the deletion may not take place for a while. Databases typically do mass deletions on a scheduled basis, especially when you are talking about a site like wordpress.com that has 30 million blogs.

oh yea… duh! forgot about the trash! (that tells you how long I’ve abstained from wordpress CMS)

I always forget to empty the trash and when I think of it I find 20 or 30 things in there collecting dust.

I’m surprised there isn’t an automatic trash dump for items older than XX

Heh, yeah but if there was one, someone would post here in the forums saying, “What happened to the stuff I put in the trash a year ago? I need that now. Why did you delete it?”

    LOL good point

This is cool I’m happy with the trash either way :)
