Possible to password protect a file/image?
-
I think my support-fu is weak today. At WP.com, is it possible to password protect a file or image?
You can password protect an individual page, which is awesome, but the files linked on the page are in the media library, and theoretically scrapable/findable by Google et al.
Just wanted to check before I told someone there isn’t a way to do that at WP.com
(can be done on .org). Thank you!The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Gwen,
Currently, it isn’t possible to password-protect a file or image through WordPress.com. The only way to protect a file from direct URL access is to set your entire blog to Private. Here’s more information on privacy settings:

If you’re trying to secure a PDF file, passwording the file is a good option. Here’s a tutorial on how to password protect a PDF file:

I hope that helps! Let me know if you need anything else.
