Possible to post blog entries just like comments?

  i’m trying to set up my site so it’s almost like a forum – so that people can contribute to the blog as if they were just commenting (in terms of ease).

  i know i could make them all editors but then i’d have to individually add each user. i’d like anyone and everyone who visits my blog to be able to contribute.

  …does anyone know if this is even possible?

  Each contributor to a WordPress.com blog has to have his/her own WordPress.com blog to be able to post.

  damn ok thanks anyway. are there any other blogs out there that offer this feature? what i’m after is sort of a mix between a blog and a forum…

  Comments can be set though to not require the visitor to be logged on. That way you get a thread of posts just like a forum.

  If you really want a forum, may I suggest a free phpBB host? A portal system has been developed for phpBB that might work better for you.

  yeah i know comments can be set so that the visitor doesn’t have to logon. but i don’t think you quite understand what i’m saying…i’m after a feature where visitors can actually post the whole blog entries as if they were just posting comments!

  lol i know it’s a weird request…just wondering if anyone knows if it’s possible or whether there’s another blog system out there that offers it

  na that’s a forum.

  what i mean is, imagine any ordinary blog…except ANY visitor from the internet can make a blog entry.

  I’m not sure. I think you can modify it though. I never got a Live Journal account. But that site I think I heard gets hundreds of thousands of hits a day. So they probably pay for their site just so they can handle the bandwidth. Get a Live Jounal account and check it out to see. You can modify Blogger BUT BLOGGER IS EVIL !! STAY AWAY FROM BLOGGER !!

  You might even want to look into some form of a wiki. That may be something of what you are looking for. I’d be worried about security though as well as spammers though.
