Possible to tag comments?
-
On my blog, most visitors post questions (that I answer) as comments on one page in particular. Often the questions & answers are of interest to subsequent visitors, but they can only be reviewed sequentially in huge threads of hundreds of comments. If I could tag the comments, the questions and answers would be much more useful to the scientific community using my blog. Any way to make this possible? Thanks so much.

I don’t think it is possible – but if a comment leads to a great discussion why not make it a blog post. Just answer the comment “This is a very good question and is answered in the blog post XXX YYY” where XXX YYY links to the post.

In some cases I do (when enough people ask the same question), but most are questions about the commenter’s own grant application, a review score received, and advice for their particular situation (still useful general background for others with pending grant applications, but not universal as a separate post). This particular page functions as more of a help desk than anything else. When I do have a post that helps answer the question, I do include a link to it, as you suggest. Thanks so much for your input.

Tagging comments would be useful if combined with an appropriate comment search. You could suggest it in the ideas forum.

I should add that the page on which this occurs is at http://writedit.wordpress.com/nih-paylines-resources/, though I often answer questions (as comments) on other pages and on individual posts that would be useful if tagged for easy searching.
