(Possibly) Malicious Scripts Inject Adsense to WordPress.com Site
-
Hi. :)
I need help. I’ve just checked my wife’s WordPress site (wordpress.com).
A few months ago, her site is hacked, it posted random articles without her consent. Which later, I found that it comes from android app.
And, just now I’ve found out that every post has Adsense ads on it. I’ve asked my wife about it and she thought it was normal (she’s non-techie person).
Is it a malware? If so, how can I remove it?

Hi. Here is the URL, sometimes the ads don’t appear, so maybe you have to try to refresh the page a few times.

Hi there,
WordPress.com sometimes displays advertisements on your blog to help pay the bills.
In some cases, you may want to avoid displaying ads on your site altogether. We know some of you want to have full control over your site’s appearance. To eliminate ads on your blog entirely, you can purchase our WordPress.com Personal, WordPress.com Premium, or WordPress.com Business plans.

Thanks for the answer staff-frank
I am OK if the ads come from WordPress, but does WordPress use Google Adsense?

Hi hamdirizal,
As staff-frank mentioned, ads are displayed on WordPress.com sites using the Free plan. If you are concerned about a particular ad, you can report it to us using the Report this ad link underneath.
Third party ads networks like Google Adsense are only available with the Business plan.

Hi @gemmacevans. Thanks for the answer.
So this means that it is normal right as it comes from WordPress and not a malicious script.

Hi @gemmacevans. Thanks for the answer.
So this means that it is normal right? As it comes from WordPress and not form malicious script.

Hi hamdirizal,
Yes, it’s normal for ads to be displayed. But if you’d like me to take a look, you can make a screenshot of the ad and upload it to your Media Library :)

Hi @gemmacevans.
Here is the screenshot https://mymixednotes.files.wordpress.com/2017/12/capture1.pngThe ads appear below the post just above the comment section.

Hi hamdirizal,
Thanks for the screenshot, I can’t see anything suspicious or malicious there and the placement is where I would expect the ads to be.
I hope this puts your mind at rest.
