Possibly misleading claim on WordPress website

  WordPress website says I could create a website for free. But when I click on ‘Start with Free’, after a couple of steps, I am required to choose a monthly plan. Even if I buy a domain name through WordPress, I still have to choose a payment plan. Is there a way to create a website for free? I might choose to sign up for a plan later, but not now.

  It’s very easy to create a free site. Just type a word or phrase (not a custom domain) and you’ll be offered a free address below the two paid-for ones. You can continue to fine tune this address before clicking on “select”.
