possibly moving to wordpress.ORG
-
Hi all,
I am thinking about switching one of my blogs to wordpress.org, so it can be hosted through aphotofolio (who will be hosting my website during its launch). Aphotofolio hosts a blog for free and gives instructions as to how to move a current wordpress blog over. (includes exporting a blog and then importing at and possibly adding a plug-in.) I’m wondering what the admin area will be like if I choose to move and if it is worth moving since I am already accustomed to the wordpress dashboard as it is.
I also wonder how it will affect my domain in each case. With my aphotofolio website being example.com, is it easy to make my blog be blog.example.com or example.com/blog?
Any help is appreciated
Thanks! -
Using subdomains such as subdomain.example.com is a great method of presenting your blog and creating a subdomain will be dependent on your host giving you access to specifying a directory that your new subdomain will point to.
As far as the wordpress admin, everything in wordpress.com will still be in wordpress.org. WordPress.org will give you a little more flexibility with plugins. -

Please link your WordPress.com username to your WordPress.com blog and remove the link to the site it’s currently linked to. Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Website‘ select the URL for your primary WordPress.com blog and then save changes.
