posssible?

Working with building this site has been very frustrating. I change one thing, and it changes ten, over and over again. Basically, I want a simple website like Paula Hawkins’ site (author) Black background, GEMINI ROSE BOOKS on top in big letters with some of my books. Simple. Basic. Is this possible to do? I couldn’t even find out how to enlarge fonts.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Are you working on https://geminirose993312516.wordpress.com/? Can you tell me what you’ve been trying that isn’t working?

I see currently have that site on the Blank Canvas theme – that theme is meant as a blank slate, and has very little preconfigured in terms of design.

It sounds like you’re trying to make a simple one-page author website, correct? While you can do that with Blank Canvas, you might find it easier to start with a more complete theme, and then customizing the appearance to look like you want. You can find all our themes designed to work as one-pagers here:

    https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/single-page

When selecting a theme, don’t focus on choosing one showing a black background on the theme preview image or demo – color is something that can be changed later, so first look for the layout/design you want, and then you can set the background color afterwards in the Customizer.

Once you have a theme you’re happy with, go to Pages ->All Pages, and edit the page there you want to use as your front page. There you’ll add your About info, and you books. For the latter specifically I’d recommend either a gallery block (if you want the book covers only), or the media and text block, if you want each book cover to be accompanied by a description.

Once you have you content added, make sure you publish the page, else it won’t be visible on your site. Then go to Appearance ->Customize ->Homepage Settings and select that page as you front page.

I couldn’t even find out how to enlarge fonts.

This depends both on the theme and on what exactly you want to enlarge. So are you speaking of the site title, or the content of the page? Or something else?
