Hi –
Your site is activated by default, you do not need to do anything for it to be live on the internet. If this doesn’t answer your question please share more details so I can better understand how to help.

Ok. I have a wordpress site that was created by a company I no longer do business with. The wordpress login I use was created by them.
I would like to purchase my own wordpress account and all I want to know is if i will be able to capture my existing site if i create a new wordpress account? -
If you have access to the original account you can transfer ownership from that account to your new account through these steps: https://en.support.wordpress.com/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/

No, that is the problem, I don’t have access to the original account. I only have access to my wp-admin dashboard. What I want to do is purchase my own premium account and keep my website

In order to gain access to the original account we require proof of ownership. To provide that please submit this form: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery
You can also try to get in touch with the current owner about the situation.
I want to be certain that I understand completely. The issue is that you made a website previously but no longer have access to it? It is under a different account? And you’d like to transfer it to your new account?

I have not explained my situation very well. I own the site, the domain, etc, etc. The site was created by a third party with a wp account. They gave me a log in as an administrator, so i do have access to the website and I can see everything and administer. I have upgraded and purchased various plug-ins etc. The problem is that I do not have access through my wp account, only through /wp-admin. I would like to purchase my own premium account and migrate what i already own to my new account. Does this better explain the situation? I bought updraft premium and various other plugins and i want to keep all of what I have but migrate it to my own wp account. Is this a better explanation?

I think you have confused WordPress.com with using the WordPress installation and hosting company.
Because of our shared environment we do not support plugins on WordPress.com. This is true regardless of your plan with us. In order to use plugins, you need a self hosted WordPress site.
This guide further explains the differences: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
There are Getting Started materials on the left hand side of https://wordpress.org/ that I suggest reading if you are interested in going this route. There’s a greater learning curve as you are responsible for all the nitty gritty details that WordPress.com handles.
