Post and page using old text when link is pasted into Facebook

Help! I am trying to post a link to my website in Facebook. In an early draft I used a link to ‘Social Belly’ for ticket sales. After that I deleted the link and the sentence it was in… (Join us at Social Belly). The new, saved, text has a link to Edible Experiences. I saved everything. It all looks fine in ‘View site’. But when I copy the post link into Facebook the old reference to ‘Social Belly’ is still there! I have tried republishing. I have tried refreshing with the F5 key. Nothing works. The same thing happens with the ‘Book Now’ page – the old deleted text is what is displayed in Facebook. Please tell me what to do. This is time-critical.

    Hi Laura!

First step, clear your browser’s cache using these instructions:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache

Next, you’ll clear your Facebook pages’s cache.

Once a post or page has been shared on Facebook, the content has been stored in a cache on their server for future shares. Facebook doesn’t look at the page again for new content until their cache expires. This time period is unpredictable, but can be days or weeks. You can force Facebook to update its cache for your post/page by entering the link to the specific blog post you’re sharing into their Debug tool on this page:

    http://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug

After pasting your link into the box on that page, click the “Debug” button. Then, click the “Fetch new scrape information” button. You may need to click the “Fetch new scrape information” button twice. Then try sharing your post/page on Facebook again.

If that fixes your issue, great! If you’re still having trouble, please do send me a link to the page or post that is causing the trouble.

    Thanks so much.

Thanks so much for your quick reply. I never would have figured that out by myself! Meanwhile, it mysteriously sorted itself out after I had been trying for nearly a day – the unpredicable Facebook cache. So I think you can close this issue. I’ll keep your email for future reference.
