  I want the main page to just show the headline, first couple sentences of the post, and maybe any links that are in the post, rather than the whole thing. With every full text post on the page, there is just too much text. Also, that means people tend not to click on the article to go to the comment option or add to facebook option, because they can just read the whole thing without clicking.

  You can achieve this by using either post excerpts or inserting the more tag in your posts.
