Post appearing in every category

Hi, I’m very new to all this so bear with me! I have also searched the forum before I asked, to no avail. I have set up 4 categories with no problem but when I do a post, assign the category to it (ticking the relevant category from the module box), the post appears in ALL the categories! I have searched settings, forums etc but can’t seem to find an answer. I’ve re-read the details of the theme I’m using but can’t see anything relevant.
My blog is louisewyattsmusing.wordpress.com and my theme is currently Beach.

We can’t help with something we can’t see. If you wish, you can temporarily switch to the middle privacy option so we can check things.

You haven’t set up four categories, you have added the Categories widget four times, each one with a different title. The Categories widget displays all the categories that have been assigned to published posts, so there’s no point adding it more than once; and its title is just a title: should be Topics, Subject Index, that sort of thing.
