Post as draft

  I usually use Open Live Writer to compose my posts, but want to try and get used to the new Gutenburg editor. I always post initially as draft so I can review and correct as necessary. I do not seem to be able to do this in the new editor. I have tried changing the ‘Save’ setting to both draft and pending, but neither seem to work as I want. What am I doing wrong?

  When working on a new post there should be a “save draft” button top right, next to “preview” and “publish”. But aren’t all posts saved as drafts periodically anyway by the editor.

  Thank you @themagicrobot. I now see what I have been doing wrong. I had the Save setting to Save Draft, but when I close the editor, I was clicking on the Publish button in an attempt to publish as a draft post. I now realise that I do not need to select publish from the editor.
