Post Author
-
I have recently added a contributor to my blog (http://maiapapaya.wordpress.com), and I was wondering how my readers will be able to tell who is posting on each post. As far as I can see, the post author isn’t shown anywhere.. is this peculiarity of the theme (Treba) I’m using? Is there any way to make sure the post author is shown somewhere?

It depends on the theme. Some do provide author page templates and some do not.
These are the options available for you to choose from.
(1) You can choose a theme that provides for and displays individual authors. There are theme reviews that can assist you in determining if a theme provides this “authors” feature. Look in the section titled “Display post author”.
(2) If the theme you prefer to use does not this feature then you can create a category called “Authors” as a “parent” category and then create “children” (Tom, Dick, Harry) sub-categories for each author’s name under the parent category Authors.
(3) Or if neither of the above options are suitable then you can have each author include a byline in the posts they create.

Some of the themes have “posted by” built into them, others do not. There’s a couple of things you can do:
1. Engtech.wordpress.com has a comparison of themes (although I don’t know how up to date it is!) which would give this information.
2. Create a specific category for your contributor.
3. Get them to “sign” every post they make – eg “posted by xx”.
I don’t know Treba so can’t tell you. If it’s not there, it’s not built into the theme.

Hrmm. Well, that’s kind of annoying, since my theme doesn’t display the post author. I guess I’ll have to redo css in another theme which does. Blech. The second option won’t work for me since I would like my readers to see who posted each post when looking at the post, not just when sorting all posts. Oh well.
