Post Author Name block not displaying

    Hi there,

    As of yesterday (5/16/22) the “Post Author Name” block is still available within the site editor, but it is no longer displayed on the front end (and not included in the html output as an element at all despite showing in the site editor, so not a theme issue).

    I have switched to the “Post Author” block for the time being, only displaying the author’s name, however the Post Author block does not include the option to link to all posts by that author, which is a feature of the Post Author Name block.

    Are there plans to either fix the new (I assume) bug that is causing the Post Author Name block to not be displayed on the front end, or to add the ability to link to an author’s archive from the Post Author block?

    As of now, I don’t see any way within the site editor to automatically link to all posts by an author within a post loop, which is something that had been possible two days ago. Am I missing another method of doing so?

    Hi @abhpennlib, I just want you to know we’re not ignoring this. It’s just taking a bit to suss out what’s happening here.

    So far, I have confirmed that the Post Author Name block displays in the editor, but not on live sites, regardless of theme. I’ve confirmed that’s happening on my WordPress.org+Gutenberg instance as well.

    So something is off. What I’m not sure about yet is whether this was some intentional change (maybe merging the two blocks? but then there’s the matter of getting the links to work) or whether something else is afoot.

    Either way, we’ll update you when we have more information. Thanks for your patience!

    We have spotted this to be a core Gutenberg release bug. Our engineers are aware of it and we hope to address this on priority!

    At this time, I do not have a workaround to share, unfortunately, but we’ll be in touch once we know more. We appreciate your understanding here.

    @abhpennlib, I think you are familiar with the Gutenberg 13.2.2 release already, but just to close the loop, Gutenberg 13.2.2 is published to WPcom as well, and it fixes the Post Author Name issue that you reported. :)
