Post background changing colour in Vigilence theme

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there
I just set up a blog using Vigilance at the theme. I liked how I change the colours etc. I’m not understanding something though – in the middle where the posts are viewed, the beginning background is white and then changes as you scroll down so that the entire page is the colour I selected. I was wanting the edges my chosen colour but the background of the posts to remain white – just as they do on the theme page (eg here: http://themes.jestro.com/vigilance/features/)

I’m not sure what I am doing wrong – or even it it is just how it looks on my PC…. is anyone able to help? Thank you in advance.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Oh, and I thought I had connected to the right blog because of the link I left when i began my question, but I see it isn’t here – the blog I’m having problems with is http://kellysstampinspot.wordpress.com …. again, thanks for any help you might be able to give

Your content area remains white all the way down for me, just as on the reference link you provided.

Thank you for looking at that SacredPath. I’m wondering if it is because I use the Firefox browser that it is looking strange for me? I just checked now in IE and it looks fine, so could I ask which browser you use so that I can understand better?

Ah, OK I’m seeing it now. It is a problem with your latest post.

Try this, go to settings > writing and select “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and click “save changes.”

Open your latest post and make a minor change such as adding a space and then deleting it and the click the “update post” button and then view your blog. Hopefully that will fix the HTML issues that are causing this.

Thanks again for the suggestion. I’ve tried your suggestions but still not seeing it as it should be.

Sorry, I missed on that. There was an error there, but not the one causing the issue.

The text widget at the top of your sidebar has some messy code and it is indicating a missing ending “div” tag although I’m not sure why since I’m seeing it in the source code. Try replacing what you have in the text widget with this:

    <span style="color: #cf2f3c;">
    <strong>For the Month of May</strong></span> there are 2 fantastic specials.<br />
    1. Purchase three selected packs of designer series paper and choose a fourth for free.<br />
    2. Join the team. Start your Stampin'up® business for only $175.00. <a href="mailto:(email visible only to moderators and staff)">Email me</a> to find out how to take advantage of these specials.

I made a typo in #1. It should be: “Purchase three selected packs or designer…”

Oh brilliant! That has fixed it…. I guess I thought I was putting in the right HTML codes in that widget by seeing how it was formed elsewhere.
I really do appreciate your assistance and the time you have taken in checking it out for me – I’m nowhere as clever as I’d like to be on these things!

Glad that fixed it for you.

Apparently the text widgets on this theme will not accept ordered or unordered lists (they keep the code but do not honor it), and somehow your last item (#2) ended up after the ending div tag for the widget (which I would have thought would have been a complete impossibility). All I can do is shrug as to why it happened. The important thing though is that it is fixed.
