[Post By email] Failed attachments – invalid response from the Jetpack site
-
Hello everyone,
I finally open a subject because no one seems to have the same problem as me.
I am running a self hosted website for my travel, recits.cycloreveurs.fr . As I don’t have a regular good internet connection, I would like to use the Post By Email capability of Jetpack 2.0.2.
Unfortunately, images in my mails are rejected, and only the text (and all the shortcodes I put too) is posted… I then receive a mail from wordpress.org telling me :
Object :failed attachment for [name of my post]
Some attachments were rejected from the following wordpress.com Post by email :
-[name of the file] – Invalid response from the Jetpack site
– again for all the pictures if more than one.—
I don’t know how to solve the problem. Do you have an idea ?
Maybe I don’t write the mail the good way (using Thunderbird and a gmail account) ?I hope someone will be able to help me !
Thanks
Guilhem

Hi there, I am sorry you are having trouble posting by email in case of posts that include images.
Could you please disconnect and then again reconnect to WordPress.com from the Jetpack menu on your site?
If you are able to reconnect successfully, please try posting by email a post with an image again.
If you are unable to disconnect and reconnect, please reply to this thread and let me know the error message that appears.

Hello Jenia,
I tried to disconnect and reconnect, without problem. I tried again to send a email from my iPod, then a smartphone, and from Thunderbird, but the problem is still here.
I connected every user of the blog with wordpress too, but it didn’t solve the problem.
Have you another idea about what to try ?
Here is the message from the email :
Some attachments were rejected from the following WordPress.com Post by Email:
– photo.JPG – Invalid response from the Jetpack site
NB : Only the image has a problem, the text of the post is OK, and so are the categories, the tags etc.
Thank you for your help.
Guilhem

Guilhem,
I’m going to ask our internal team if they have any fresh insight into this issue. I’ll let you know what we dig up!
Thanks for your patience – I hope to get this taken care of quickly for you.

Hi again,
This is what the team found:
There’s an issue with your host’s DNS:
“NS nsb.bookmyname.com. does not have an A record for cycloreveurs.fr”
So, if you could pass that message along to your host, they should be able to resolve it. Once that is resolved and your DNS is propagating correctly, Post by Email should work.
Let me know if you have any other questions about this, or need any additional help!

Hello,
I understand the problem. I purchased my domain name from bookmyname.com, and use their DNS to link it to my blog, which is on a sub-domain, recits.cycloreveurs.fr .
Then, wordpress.com through JetPack tries to access to it via the main domain, http://cycloreveurs.fr, but don’t find it because… it’s not there. For the moment, I don’t use the domain name itself, but just some sub-domain. (ex : www, recits, blog, etc.).
I’ve created today an A record for @ (main domain) to the IP address of the website, but I don’t know if I need to do something else to get it work (it doesn’t at the moment) :
- Do I have to add something on my wordpress admin panel ?
Do I have to add an server alias on the server on which the blog is ?
Anyway, thank you to look closely to my problem, it’s nice to see such a support !

Hi again,
Hmmm… that’s a good question. I’m not sure; we don’t officially handle WordPress.org support, so I am not very up-to-date on the specifics :)
But I did find this area of the WordPress.org forums that might be helpful for you?
http://wordpress.org/support/forum/multisiteGood luck, and let us know if you need any additional help with your Jetpack (we will continue to gladly support that!)
Cheers!
