Post by email mangles markdown

  Hi there,

  when trying to submit new posts via email (I have the markdown plugin enabled), only very basic markdown syntax survives. Image links, code blocks etc all get badly mangled (tried both plaintext email and various variants of html-formatting).

  Is that supposed to work (http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2013/11/19/markdown/#comment-187953 makes me think so), and if yes, what magic escaping or whatnot do it need for emails?
