Post by Email not sizing images correctly w/ Duotone theme?

    Hi.

    I am currently photo blogging with the Duotone theme as my theme on a simple once-a-day blog. As is my girlfriend.

    Here is our/her issue. I upload my photo(s) using the browser (Firefox) on a laptop. The images max out at 840 pixels wide for horizontal images and 560 pixels wide for vertical. When I post I send an image that is larger and it gets re-sized to these dimensions and everything shows up great. As of this posting the last few images are verticals, but you can see the horizontal posts showing up great as well.

    My girlfriend is using the same setup, same theme, and her photos usually (used to) post the same and have been for quite some time. The only difference is that she uses an iPhone to shoot and to upload her images. Up to now they had been accepted by WordPress.com from the mobile device and displayed correctly (meaning the same as images I post through the browser). However for some reason now all images are being posted very undersized.

    Originally she was using the WordPress iPhone app to post, but on the latest update she noticed the images posting much smaller. We thought it might be an issue with the way the WordPress application was re-sizing the images, and switched to using a service called PixelPipe to post the image to WordPress.com – it still now posts much undersized images (not 840, or 560). The email sent by WordPress after each post (the subscription email) contains the image, but at full size, meaning WordPress itself is getting the full-resolution photo/file. What this means is that when posted on anything but the browser interface a large image is being re-sized to way under the usual dimensions for display, but not the actual file.

    What changed, what are we doing wrong here. For now the only recourse is to manually Edit each post, and use the image from the WordPress email and re-insert it in the post with the browser-based editor. What’s the solution to that? A setting? Why is WordPress displaying an image smaller when the post is created on a mobile device, versus the same file being posted in a desktop browser?
