The email was caught as spam, so in this case I recommend trying a different email address.

Hi,
I’m having a similar issue. I’ve create a PHP script that will update a particular blog. While testing the script on my local server, I had no problems. But when I uploaded the script to a live server, wordpress seemed to not receive the emails. I’m assuming the messages I’m sending from the live server are being caught as spam, so how can I make sure the server accepts the email? I tried setting a from address in the headers but that didn’t seem to work

We cannot accept emails sent via scripts running on servers, as that is a very common spam tactic. These are simply blocked outright with no way around it.
We can only accept emails sent from actual email or webmail clients.

I understand that, but how does your server know its from a script if i use an auto forwarder?

We have a variety of tools in place to identify a variety of script types.
We do not discuss the specifics as we do not want spammers to find a way around them.

Ok, I get that, but here’s my scenario:
A client asked me to help him post to all of his social media sites from one place. I’ve been using posterous, so I immediately suggested that. However, since posterous was acquired by twitter earlier this year, a lot of functionality is missing for new users. Basically, it no longer sends videos to Vimeo (even though my grandfathered account does). So I looked into both WordPress.org self hosted sites and WordPress.com. My client prefers WordPress.com, so I found the post by email feature. I’ve built a web page that is password protected (yeah I know I need to add SSL too…) and from that page he can upload to both YouTube and Vimeo. I added a form in order to use the post by email feature so he can update WordPress, Facebook and twitter from one place.
I get that my way won’t work, but does anyone have any suggestions for me? I thought there was a way to link a self hosted WordPress site to a WordPress.com, but maybe I got that backwards.

I’m sorry, I don’t really have any suggestions.
If you switched over to WordPress.com as the primary source, we can auto-post to a variety of sites, but that’s about it:

Also, maybe you could work something up to use xml-rpc instead: http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/

The main site is on WordPress.com, but can it post (upload videos) to Vimeo and YouTube?
Thanks for your help, by the way.
