Post by email stopped working

    Post by email stopped working. I generated a new post by email address hoping that would fix it but it didn’t. Any ideas why it stopped all of a sudden?

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

    Hi there,

    When did you last attempt a post by email? When I check the logs for your site, I see three recent post by emails that were successfully published:

    • Highway 1 on the Big Sur…. 12/13
    • County of Monterey: Debris Flow Evacuation Warning for Areas 12/13
    • TRAFFIC CONTROL ON HIGHWAY 1 IN CARMEL MONDAY NOV. 22 11/19

    Any more recent post by email attempts?

    Those were the last posts that worked by post by email.

    Yes, I’ve tried to post by email 3 or 4 times since 12/13 and none of posted. I updated/changed the post by email address hoping that would jiggle it loose but that didn’t help either.

    Hi there,

    Have you had some success with Post By Email since this reply? I can see on our end that you set a test post via email that was successfully added to your site. seems after that you moved it to the trash, but I can see it here: https://blogbigsur.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_status=trash&post_type=post

    If you try again with a complete post instead of a test does it work as expected? Thanks for the additional info!

    Hi Jerry,
    It took about 35 minutes for the Test email to post. I sent a full press release with 3 images 40 minutes ago (11:54 AM PST) and it still hasn’t posted.

    As you know, normally the post is instantaneous.

    Hm, that seems odd.

    I’m curious about two things:

    1. Try sending the email from the same email address to another email address (not post by email). Is there also a delay in it arriving there?

    2. Try posting by email with just 1 photo. Is there a similar delay?

    I’m having mixed results. The first email test still hasn’t arrived.
    I tried sending to my gmail address and it arrived.

    So, I’m getting mixed results so I should call my hosting service.

    I sent another press release with only 1 photo at 12:54 PST. It’s now 1:00 PM and it still hasn’t posted.

    I’m calling my hosting company to see if there is an issue with the email server.

    I called Bluehost Hosting and their message says they are having an issue with inbound and outbound email.

    So, I sent from another email and it posted immediately as it normally does.

    It seems their email server is stalling and losing email. Now I’m concerned when they get this fixed it will flood the blog with all the posts i put in the queue… oh well.
