  My blog posts are separated by appropriate categories and when I filter in the WP blog post dashboard, the correct posts come up. However, on the site itself, if you click the corresponding category menu option, nothing displays. What am I missing please?

  That usually means you’d want to add the category to the menu correctly. A lot of people add pages to the menu instead of categories. Try following this guide? https://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/
