Post Content Block

Have created a new home page using the Appleton theme and have assigned it as the new home page under the reading settings, along with a blog page.
I kept the original home page as a fall back template and have called the new home page index-with a header and footer only layout.
However, when I make changes to this new home page-the post content block is kinda there on the page. This index page will not be static as it will display posts in a post carousel. Is it normal to have this post block with paragraph text on this new home page? Do I just work around this post content block? The default home page doesn’t.

    Thanks

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi, I love what you’ve done so far on https://website2192.wordpress.com/, the layout looks great!

By default most templates will contain the Post Content block as it’s what shows content you add within the page/post editor, on the page or post in question. If you’re not planning to add content to your Index page within the page editor, and keeping everything within the template only, then you can absolutely remove the Post Content block from that template!

It’s typically locked – or in a locked group; so you’d need to unlock that before removing the Post Content block. I usually recommend working from the List View to do this as it’s a little easier to manage. With the List View panel open, you can click on the three-dot button beside any locked block to locate the unlock option for it. With that changed, you can then make any changes you’d need to the blocks inside it.

I hope that helps, if you do have any other questions let us know!
