Scheduled posts don’t appear until the next person visits the site after the scheduled time. This can be moments after or hours after depending how many visitors your site attracts.

Thats messed up, the point of the new post is to attract visitors.
My next question is that i noticed the email upon new post has the whole post, can it be changed to have a snippet instead?

I’ve never seen the purpose of scheduling posts. Perhaps many years ago when I was going on holiday and wouldn’t be in front of my computer for 2 weeks but these days….

And I also not sure about making visitors work by having to make another click to read a full post but I guess we all see the world differently…

I have my reasons for scheduling posts and i did schedule it correctly, it just didn’t show up at the scheduled time.

Yes I think they should be reported to the Trade Descriptions Act for false advertising :)
In the link above:Scheduled posts will be triggered by the first visit to your blog on or after the exact date/time you set. If you see that the scheduled time has come and gone and your post or page has not published, log out of WordPress.com and view your blog’s front page. Your visit should cause the post or page to appear.

Its a silly policy, its a chicken or egg problem, the post doesn’t show up until someone goes to the website. But visitors would not know this hence have no reason to visit. Especially if its a new or low traffic site.
I know now this so will have to visit after its scheduled since it won’t show up.

Hi there,
Its a silly policy, its a chicken or egg problem, the post doesn’t show up until someone goes to the website. But visitors would not know this hence have no reason to visit. Especially if its a new or low traffic site.
This is a technical limitation to how the WordPress software works. When someone loads your site in a browser, it triggers a job that checks for scheduled posts, and then it publishes any pending posts it finds. To have this happen without a visit, your site would need to run that job automatically at set intervals, which would significantly increase server resource use, essentially meaning it would cost more to host any site.
As you correctly point out, this limitation has a bigger impact on new, low-traffic sites, but it will become less noticeable over time as your site starts getting organic traffic from search engines and the Reader. This should only take a few weeks, depending on how often you post.
