Post disappeared

So, I noticed today that one of my blog posts (https://videogamesoftheoppressed.wordpress.com/2017/05/10/the-kids-in-the-hall/) from this past May is missing. I have no idea how long its been gone, but it doesn’t show up in my drafts or my trash. On the wordpress app, it shows the post in my trash, but when I click to restore it, I get an ‘error: unknown post’ message. Even the wayback machine can’t find it! I certainly didn’t delete it, and I never got an email about any problem with it. I can’t figure out what happened to it, but it was one of my most popular posts and I really want it back.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’ve tagged this thread with modlook to bring it to the staff’s attention. I’m really hoping they can help you restore your post because darn if I don’t want to read it. Video games and kids in the hall are 2 of my absolute favourite things! Scott Thompson even spoke about your post on twitter! So cool!

  • Hi there,

That post was deleted on 23 June by your username, so it was either you or someone who has access to your computer/account.

The post is not in Google’s cache either, so I’m afraid there’s no way for us to get it back.

So weird. I definitely didn’t delete it myself, and I can’t think of anyone who has access. I reset my password just in case, but could it have been some kind of bug?

  • If there was a bug randomly deleting people’s posts I’m sure we would have had more reports about it, but it’s always a possibility. Someone with access to your account is the most logical explanation, though, so updating your password is definitely a good idea. While you’re at it, please update your email password as well, as that’s the only way someone could potentially reset your password. There haven’t been any password reset attempts on your account, but better safe than sorry :)
