post does not show up in topics

    hey everybody,

    just posted something and the post did not show up in any of the TAGS / TOPICS.
    also the existing post did not seem to move further up.

    anybody else noticing this too?

    Have you checked these two sets of reasons out?
    global tags – missing posts
    WordPress.com search – missing posts

    It does not seem to be any of these things.
    Also I did not receive an email update of my NEW POST, but the post does show up on my blog.

    Is there something wrong?

    I have visited your blog. In this post “Going on a well deserved break…” I see tags and categories using the same word – photography. Search engines treat categories and Tags in the same way. Choose one or the other.

    In this post “Apple turnovers, a quick fix when in need of something sweet” I once again see Categories and Tags using the same words – food, photography.

    I also see that you gave a combined total of 14 categories and Tags on the post. That’s overkill that’s referred to as spamdexing. We aim to use the least combined number of Categories and Tags that accurately reflect the content in the post — less is more — when it comes to assigning categories and tags.

    Also note that the blog posts appear in the tag pages in datestamp and timestamp order. As many topics are popular the new posts get “buried” very quickly.

    I always thought that categories and Tags were 2 different things, but as I put something in 1 category I don’t need to also use that same tag?

    Search engines do no differentiate between Categories and Tags — human beings do. The former are for broad topical areas – the latter are more detailed. This thread is also helpful > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/tags-29?replies=34
